Class Rules for Maritime Off Road Racing Series 2024

Important Rules for ALL classes: 

Helmets & neck braces. Each participant, in all classes must have their own at the start line or they will not be able to run. (99) Arm restraints are allowed.

Full faced helmets and SFI Neck Braces are mandatory. (09)

Seat belts or Harnesses must be worn. Harnesses and race suits must be worn in Pro Stock and Modified classes, BFG points or non BFG points, with a minimum 5 point harness and belts do not have to be dated but must be in excellent condition. (16)(17) 5 point harnesses in all BFG series classes. (13)

Fire Extinguishers - must be in each truck within reach of both the driver and navigator. It must be fully charged, at least 2 pounds with gauge and EASILY DETACHED (00/06/18)

Neutral Safety Switch - All vehicles must have a neutral safety switch so that the vehicle will not start in gear. This applies to both standard and automatic transmissions. There is to be no brake pedal switches. (02)

Window Nets - Full safety nets, if doors are removed. Full enclosed door nets, which are easily removable. (01) Must adequately cover the door window and fastened securely. (13) If side windows are closed with glass you must also have window nets. (17)

Latches for window nets - A quick release or seat belt buckle located on top corner of truck. (01)

Roll Bars - All BFG trucks must have roll bar cage to compete in either slalom or drags. All trucks entering the slalom event must have a roll bar. (00/06/07) Note: 4, 6, and 8 cylinder stock classes run in drags only, with no roll bar if they have a full cab of steel construction and passes tech. (04)

Modifications to any vehicles to accommodate safety issues are allowed. Example: fuel cells and roll cages. (00)

Roofs – If you don`t have a stock steel OEM roof, the roof must made with at least 20 gauge steel or 3/16 aluminum and bolted or fastened securely. (13)

Tow hooks - All classes are required to have tow hooks or loops, front and rear. (05/06) No chains for front because they swing in staging lights. (17). They must be easily accessible and obvious and made out of steel. (12)

Fuel Cells - Aftermarket fuel cells/systems should be roll over secure and properly vented at the discretion of the Safety and Tech man. (02)                                                                         

A complete fire suit with a 3.25 rating must be worn by each BFG racer and enclosed footwear. (NOT CROCS) (08)(11) Fire suits recommended for all racers. (12)

Windshields and Firewall - Full factory OEM windshield and OEM steel firewall is recommended, if not present then the driver and navigator must wear DOT full faced helmets and safety glasses or shields with a 3.25 rated fire suit. (00/05/09) All racers must wear eye protection (glasses, shield, goggles, safety glasses) on the track. (23)

Open exhaust is allowed except for 8 Cylinder Stock Class must have factory Y pipe.

Steering wheel and shaft maybe modified for safety purposes. Example: Quick release steering wheel. (11)

Quick steer are allowed except for 8 Cylinder Stock Class.

Brakes - All vehicles must have enough brakes to hold under strain, or stop test for standard vehicles, at the discretion of the Safety officer. (01)

Callipers on front and one rear and must start with all brakes. (08)

Batteries must be securely fastened. (02)

Batteries must be enclosed if near or around driver if there is no firewall. (11)

Tailgates are not required, applies to all classes. (99)                                                                          

No visible profanity on vehicles is allowed. (13)

Scatter shields - Blanket or steel bell housing or flex plate shield is mandatory for all Pro Stock and Modified vehicles. Other classes optional, but recommended. Must cover bell-housing area and be SFI approved, not homemade. (02)

Drive Shaft loops are required in all classes to run in the BFG points.

New Rule for 2024 - Nitrous bottles: Nitrous bottles are only allowed on trucks for modified trucks or in the opens. (24)                                                                                                                             

4 & 6 Cylinder Stock Class

- Anything that is factory built stock, full stock body, stock running gear, or any combination of stock components, must be located in stock location.

- Body Lifts allowed for tire clearance.

- Box must have all steel construction, including headboard and floor. Made and removed as one unit. Must have exterior OEM panels or replacement OEM panels.

- OEM bumpers not required.

- Rear hatches on SUV`s not required.

- Aluminum dashes are allowed.

- Shocks must be OEM mounted.

- Shocks - If your truck came from factory with only two rear shocks then it can only have two rear shocks. (And in the stock location.)

- Reinforced control arms with or without heim joints in factory stock location are allowed.

- Hydraulic bump stops are allowed.

- No aluminum carburetor intakes except for OEM fuel injections systems.

- Factory OEM aluminum heads may be used in conjunction with factory OEM or aftermarket fuel injections. No aluminum or composite aftermarket intake manifolds allowed or OEM performance intake manifolds or OEM performance heads. Aftermarket fuel injection has to bolt to a stock cast or stock EFI aluminum intakes only. Example: No GM performance, Ford Racing, Toyota TRD, Mopar or Jeep performance or any other factory performance items.

- No after market add ons except carburetors and headers.(ex: no aftermarket ignitions)

- Electric fuel pumps are allowed.

- Must have a windshield.

- Street DOT tires, no cut tires.

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

8 Cylinder Stock Class

- 100% completely stock from factory including interior

- Racing seats and 5 point harnesses are allowed.

- Bigger tires and lift kits are allowed.

- Roll cage is allowed.

- Performance enhancements are not allowed.

- Exhaust no required but must have factory Y pipe.

- Fuel cell is allowed.

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

8 Cylinder Sportsman Class

- Anything that is factory built stock, full body stock, stock running gear, or any combination of stock components, must be located in stock location.

- Body lifts are allowed for tire clearance. 

- Box must have all steel construction, including headboard and floor. Made and removed as one unit. Must have exterior OEM panels or replacement OEM panels.

- OEM bumpers are not required.

- Rear hatches for SUV`s not required.

- Aluminum dashes are allowed.

- Shocks must be OEM mounted.

- Shocks - If your truck came from factory with only two rear shocks then it can only have two rear shocks. (And in the stock location.)

- Reinforced control arms with or without heim joints in factory stock location are allowed.

- Hydraulic bump stops are allowed.

- No aluminum carburetor intakes except for OEM fuel injections systems.

- 1/4" capped intake manifold vacuum test outlet must be provided.

- There must be a direct and clear visible from intake manifold.

- Must have a minimum of 15 inches of vacuum at 800 RPMS for a minimum of 5 seconds.

- Factory OEM aluminum heads may be used in conjuction with factory OEM or aftermarket fuel injection. No aluminum or composite aftermarket intake manifolds allowed or OEM performance intake manifolds or OEM performance heads. Aftermarket fuel injection has to bolt to a stock cast or stock EFI aluminum intakes only. Example: No GM performance, Ford Racing, Toyota TRD, Mopar or Jeep performance or any other factory performance items.

- No aftermarket add ons except carburetors, ignition boxes for carbureted engines only and headers. *Adapter Plate for linkage clearance only*

- Electric fuel pumps are allowed.

- Must have a windshield.

- Spacer is allowed on 351M/400 for stock 4 barrel intake.

- Street DOT tires, no cut tires.

- All Diesel engines are permitted.

- Must have wheel openings due to discretion of tech guys.

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

 4 & 6 Cylinder Pro Lite Class (combined)

- Full stock body or fully caged.

- No nitrous or superchargers, induction systems or boosters.

- 4 Cylinder trucks will be allowed 1 enhancement only.

- Street DOT cut tires allowed.

- Must have a drive shaft loop on all drive shafts.

- Must be made from a car or truck. (Must have a car or truck engine.)(No ATV`s or UTV`s.)

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

Super Stock Class

- Anything that is factory built stock, full stock body, stock running gear, or any combination of stock components.

- Body Lifts are allowed for tire clearance.

- Box must have all steel construction, including headboard and floor. Made and removed as one unit.Must have exterior OEM panels.

- OEM bumpers are not required.

- Rear hatches for SUV`s not required.

- Must have a windshield.

- Aluminum dashes are allowed.

- Shocks must be OEM mounted.

- Shocks - If your truck came from the factory with only two rear shocks then it can only have two rear shocks. (And in the stock location.)

- Reinforced control arms with or without heim joints in factory stock location are allowed.

- Hydraulic bump stops are allowed.

- Big Blocks and enhanced engines but no blowers or nitrous.

- Street DOT tires , no cut tires.

- Upright headers and 2-4 barrel carburetor combinations are allowed.

- Must have a drive shaft loop on all drive shafts.

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

Pro Stock Class

- No nitrous or blowers.

- Street DOT cut tires allowed.

- Window nets must be removable and must have grab handles for navigator.

- Scatter shield, blanket, steel bell housing or flex plate shield, must cover housing area and have SFI specs, not home made.

- Must have a full roll cage.

- Upright headers and 2-4 barrel carburetor combinations are allowed.

- Fire suits must be worn, BFG points or non BFG points racers.

- Harness  must be worn, with minimum of 5 point harness.

- Must have a drive shaft loop on all drive shafts.

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

4 & 6 Cylinder Pro Mod Class:

- Full stock body or fully caged.

- Nitrous and paddles are allowed.

- Street DOT cut tires are allowed.

- Must have drive shaft loops on all drive shafts.

- Must be made from car or truck. (Must have car or truck engine) ( No ATV`s or UTV`s ).

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

Modified Class

- Anything goes.

- Street DOT cut tires are allowed.

- Window nets must be removable and must have grab handles for the navigator.

- Scatter shield, blanket, steel bell housing or flex plate shield, must cover housing area and have SFI specs, not home made.

Fire suits must be worn, BFG points or non BFG points racers.

- Harness must be worn, with a minimum of 5 point harness.

- Must have a full roll cage.

- Must have a drive shaft loop on all drive shafts.

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

 2WD Class (non points)

- All cylinders.(4, 6 & 8)

- All * SAFETY * rules will apply to the type of truck they bring in. Example: 6 cylinder truck - 6 cylinder class rules, Pro Stock Truck - Pro Stock class rules.

- Must have a mud flap full across the rear of truck to the ground.

- Must be rear wheel drive.

- Must have basic safety rules.

- Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

New Rule change for 2024 - UTV Class (POINTS)  

- Factory Built

- Must have a full Roof. (Factory or steel)..

- Must have doors. (Factory or aftermarket). 

- Must have window nets.

- 5 point harness or factory belts allowed.

 - They will only run in their own class, not to be grouped with other classes.

 - Must have a KIll Switch for slalom that can be reached by driver and navigator while truck is racing.

Junior 4 & 6 Cylinder Stock Class (non points)

- This class is for kids from 13 to 16 years of age with a Nova Scotia Identification ID card with photo and wearing full safety gear will be allowed to run as driver with parent`s in truck and in a 4 or 6 Cylinder Stock truck only. Also must have parental consent.

- Anything that is factory built stock, full stock body, stock running gear, or any combination of stock components, must be located in stock location.

- Body Lifts allowed for tire clearance.

- Box must have all steel construction, including headboard and floor. Made and removed as one unit. Must have exterior OEM panels or replacement OEM panels.
